Why Use Bath Sand?
Chickens and birds enjoy bathing in dry sand. They do this to remove excess oil from their feathers and to get rid of mites, lice, and fleas. Finecto+ BATH encourages this natural bathing behavior. Finecto+ BATH is a ground mineral powder derived from natural rock. Its uniform particle size provides good adhesion between feathers, ensures effective action, and prevents dust formation.
Instructions for Use
Fill a (dust bath) container with Finecto+ BATH. The minimum dimensions for a dust bath container for chickens are 35 cm wide and 45 cm long. Fill the dust bath container with a layer of 5 cm or more. Place the dust bath in a dry area of the coop or outdoor enclosure, ideally year-round, both in winter and summer.
It is not a problem if the animals ingest some of the dust bath powder. This is usually due to a deficiency or need for minerals. The good absorption of the minerals in Finecto+ BATH will maintain or even improve eggshell quality.
It is also possible to occasionally sprinkle some directly onto the chickens to ensure it gets under their feathers, especially if the chickens do not yet bathe on their own.
