Fleas on Dogs

Fleas on dogs are a well-known problem and a nightmare for any dog lover. Not only do dogs experience visible irritation from these parasites, but they can also infest household furnishings. To effectively treat fleas on dogs, it's important to understand their behavior and life cycle. Fleas have a cycle of about 6 weeks. After a flea has fed on a dog's blood, it lays dozens of eggs. Some of these eggs remain on the skin, while others are left in areas where the dog lies (e.g., bed and carpet).

Ticks on Dogs

Ticks are a nuisance for many animals and people, including dogs. The sneaky aspect of these parasites is that they transfer to dogs unseen to feed on their blood. In addition to causing itching and skin irritations, ticks can transmit diseases such as Lyme disease. The tick season is now much longer, and ticks can sometimes be present all year round.

Step 1: Internal Treatment of Your Dog

Ticks dislike essential oils. By giving your dog a dietary supplement, you make your dog unattractive to ticks. This means ticks will be less likely to latch onto your dog, and if they do, they will bite less firmly and release more quickly. Make sure to choose the correct formulation and one that is suitable for dogs, as essential oils are intense—only use supplements specifically designed for dogs!

For fleas, an internal supplement works a bit differently. While it's the same type of supplement used for ticks, fleas feed on blood. By giving an internal supplement based on herbs and essential oils, you make your dog's blood undigestible to fleas. This prevents fleas from reproducing, thereby reducing the population. Due to the life cycle of fleas, the supplement should be given for at least 6 consecutive weeks.

Step 2: Check the Dog and Clean the Environment

It’s noted that if you remove ticks within 24 hours, they are less likely to transmit diseases such as Lyme disease. Therefore, establish a regular time to check your dog daily for ticks. Remove ticks with a tick removal tool as soon as you find them. Check thoroughly in the armpits and groin, as ticks are often found there due to the warmth.

Also, make sure to thoroughly clean your house or the area where your dog spends a lot of time on a weekly basis. Vacuum frequently and wash your dog’s bedding, cushions, etc., at the highest possible temperature to remove as many eggs and newly hatched larvae as possible. Additionally, you can comb your dog with a special flea comb. By providing a dietary supplement throughout the year, you can prevent a (large) flea outbreak. This is especially recommended for dogs with a flea allergy.

Step 3: Don’t Give Up!

If you are outdoors with your dog daily, you may encounter ticks regularly. Becoming 100% tick-free is impossible. This cannot be achieved with chemical products or natural ones alone. The goal is to protect your dog as much as possible and to remove ticks as quickly as possible.

With our natural supplement, you ensure that fewer ticks will attach to your dog, minimizing the risk of Lyme disease. The advantage of this supplement is that your dog can safely swim or be bathed, as the effect comes from within. It is also not harmful to your dog!

With fleas, it’s important to persist through an outbreak. Eggs can remain alive for a long time, so reinfestation is always possible. Continue to clean your home and your dog's bedding thoroughly and keep giving the supplement as long as your dog has fleas.
